It sure was announced, and televised. Interest waned, though.
Apollo 11 was followed by 12,13,14, 15,16,17.
Although Apollo 13 didn’t land (emergency).
The United States is the only nation to have had humans land on the moon.
Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16,and 17 (6 successful missions in total) each landed two astronauts on the surface of the moon, while a third astronaut remained in orbit around the moon.
You are probably familiar with why Apollo 13 never landed.
Five, from that on.
The USSR wanted to, but their lunar programs suffered from internal personal conflicts between the managers. Instead of just one lunar program, the USSR actually had 2 conflicting and fighting for money, together with the huge group of unmanned exploration supporters and the space station program.
Since Apollo-11’s successful landing, Apollo-12, Apollo-14, Apollo-15, Apollo-16, and Apollo-17 have been the only manned missions to have landed on the moon.
There are tons of conspiracy theories that state otherwise, but don’t take any of them seriously.
